Top 5 family friendly trails and hikes | Salt Lake County Moms

Wanting to get out into the mountains, but there’s too much snow?! Go for a nature walk!! Or just stick to the closer hikes that don’t take forever to drive too!

Here are our top recommendations:

Jordan River Trail:

Location, South Jordan

Classified as Easy

Mileage: as long or as short as you want

It’s great for everyone!! Trail is paved: bring a wagon, stroller, scooter or bikes!! And if you have your fishing license, bring a pole!! There are 3 little fishing ponds. Also, cute playgrounds to stop at along the way!!  Our favorite place to hop on the trail is at lifetime fitness in South Jordan. Bring a lunch, play on the playgrounds, then have the babies get in the stroller when ready to walk, and the big kids hop on the scooters to get the rest of the wiggles out!!

Lower Bells Canyon Reservoir:

Location, Sandy

Classified as Easy

Mileage: 3/4 mile

Classified as a hike.  You’ll want everyone to wear closed toed shoes, it’s a little rocky! But the rocks make it fun for the kids to climb, jump and play round. This hike will take you to a small reservoir that you can look for fish, skip rocks, and walk around the whole thing! You could even bring a picnic! (Best to go during the week day, the parking lots fills quickly on the weekends, early mornings and after work.)

Bear Canyon Suspension Bridge:

Location, Draper

Classified as Easy

Mileage 2.3 miles

If this sounds too long, the elevation change is 439ft (it’s very doable!!) This is the perfect hike to take your kids on, especially when you need a change up from, the splash pad! So much to see, watch for and listen too. We love this hike because it’s a loop! There is a park right at the trail head so you could absolutely spend hours here!

Rose canyon Spring Trail

Location, Herriman

Classified as Easy

Mileage: 2.9 miles

This is an out and back trail. Rose Canyon trail is popular for walking and hiking. If you plan it right, you’ll see beautiful wildflowers!! Elevation gain is 413ft (so don’t let the distance scare you!) Make the memories, you won’t regret it!

Oquirrh Lake Long Loop

Check out Daybreak on this darling calm paved loop. It’s take just about an hour to complete, is perfect for your kids to bring scooters or bikes!
